My first year of gyaru was the most important to me;
everyday I was researching into different makeup and hair tutorials, looking at
blogs, and talking to new people. I was striving to be better at it because I
knew that my first couple of months were where I was going to decide whether gyaru was the right thing for me.
It turned out that gyaru was for me and after a couple of
months I wanted to see how I was improving and what I still needed to improve on. I
was endlessly asking for feedback but I just wanted to see for myself and make
my own decisions, and voilà! I thought of the Gyaru Improvement Meme!
You may have already heard of the Gyaru Improvement Meme,
and if you haven’t it’s basically a meme (an idea that spreads from person to person) where every month you would place your
best photo into a box so that after a year you would be able to look back and
see where you have improved. This was what my Improvement Meme looked like:
“But why did you say ‘was’? And not ‘is’?” you might ask…
Well, this is why: It’s because I have created a brand-and-spanking new one! I
realised that after a year the design wasn’t looking as good as I wanted it to – yuck, the typeface was horrendous! – and I wanted to create one that could be
used universally by both gyaru and gyaruo.
So, Ladies and Gentlemen, a drum roll if you please…
Ta-da! Here is the new meme! If you want to download the PSD
file then please click here, otherwise you can just save this JPEG and place
the photos on top of the white boxes. All I ask is to not remove the credits, please!
Hope you enjoy using this meme, and if you do please leave a
comment below so that we may take a look at them! It would be wonderful to see
everyone’s progression into the gyaru fashion.
